On this earth, many men of God have appeared who did not live for themselves; rather, they came into this world for the sake of Allah Almighty and lived their lives solely for His pleasure. Every moment of their lives was devoted to seeking the pleasure of the Divine and attaining the approval and satisfaction of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Consequently, their hearts became illuminated with Divine lights and the spiritual manifestations associated with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. At times, they appeared as manifestations of the Divine proof, while at other times, they emerged as embodiments of sincerity, selflessness, sacrifice, and service to humanity.
Among such individuals endowed with these sacred qualities was Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah Qasuriؒ. Through his knowledge and practice, words and deeds, asceticism, and piety, he sought to elevate the people of God from the depths of humiliation and moral degradation towards the spiritual path of devotion and submission. He boldly proclaimed the truth and, with extraordinary dedication, spread the message of Divine Oneness (Tawhid) and Prophethood (Risalah) in every direction. Although his commitment to truthfulness and fearlessness exposed him to hardships, suffering, trials, difficulties, and dangers, he never experienced the slightest wavering in his steadfastness. He strongly criticized hypocrites, those concerned merely with outward appearances, and scholars who failed to act upon their knowledge. He regarded such unpracticing and ignorant religious figures as a source through which misguidance could spread among people.
Baba Bulleh Shahؒ is regarded as one of the great Sufi saints of the Indian subcontinent who sought to promote the message of love for humanity while following the moral and spiritual values of the Sufi tradition. According to his teachings, a person who truly loves God cannot hate another human being. Hatred is generally associated with distinctions based on colour, race, caste, and social status, whereas a person immersed in the love of God transcends all such distinctions. Divine love purifies the human heart from prejudice and enables an individual to recognize the dignity and humanity of others.
