Abstract
Expert in many languages and translator of Turkish writers' works into Urdu, Punjabi and English, Colonol (R) Masud Akhter Shaikh is well known as "Our Colonel" in Turkey and "Representative of Turkish Literature" in Pakistan.Colonol (R) Masud Akhter Shaikh was born in Rawalpindi in 1928. He passed his matriculation exam from Danes High School and B.A (Hons) from Garden College Rawalpindi. He got admission in Punjab University (journalism Deptt.) but he left it and joined army. When he promoted to rank of Major he got the opportunity to learn Turkish language. In 1963 he passed the exam of "Translator of Turkish Language". In 1966 he was selected for "Turkish Staff College Course" where he got the opportunity of the deep study in Turkish Literature and also made close relationships with the renowned Turkish writers.Since his retirement in 1978, he translated more than 200 literary pieces of 34 Turkish writers into Urdu, English and Punjabi languages. Now, has more than 24books of his, have been published in which 9 books are in Urdu,1inTurkish and the rest in English. Therefore, he is called a "Representative of Turkish Literature" in Pakistan. Here in this essay we are just going to have critical study of his translated works from Turkish into several languages.
