Abstract
Letters have an important role in Urdu literature. Ghalib has highlighted many important aspects in his letters. One of them is the physical pain of Ghalib. He suffered from many physical ailment, the pain and severity of which are well expressed in his letters. He used a number of terms to describe these physical disorders that seems to be no longer in use in Urdu literature. This article tries to explain obsolete words and their meanings in order to provide guidance for the novice researchers.
