Abstract
Islam is a complete code of life . Which has the characteristics of universality and aternity.This unique characteristic of ٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰIٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰٰslam makes it distinguished from other religions. A significant pillar of this religion is ''Ijtihad" Allama Iqbal, who was the pioneer of islamic renaissance has expressed his thoughts about the importance of "Ijtihad" in both poetry and prose in a well organised manner.Moreover he has pointed out the elements which kept the door of "Ijtihad" closed for a long time. Iqbal considered to cease "Ijtihad" equal to cease the eternal and universal characteristic of Islam. So the, "Ijtihad" must continue till the day of judgement.
