Abstract
Urdu Ghazal since the independance of Pakistan has gone through significant changes in both subject matters as well as diction. The Survey of these changes brings out the major transformation in the genre. Urdu Ghazal after partition has expressed the trauma of migration in a very storng manner. The country witnessed great horrors and these found experssion in the poetry of Nasir Kazmi, Majeed Amjad , Munir Niazi and others. Urdu Ghazal gained new depths and adopted new imagery to reflect realities of society after partition. It also effected the imagery, symbols and characters as well as their significance. In this Article Dr. Samina Nadeem describes the major changes in Urdu Ghazal After Azadi.
