Abstract
Meer Babbar Ali Anees possesses the top rank among the elegy (Marsia) writing poets of Urdu. His mode of expression and blend of epic & tragic elements with emotions, has introduced new style of elegy writing in Urdu poetry. In the battleground, presence of epic is a new feature in his Marsias and the main characters of elegy are presented daring, brave and fighting against cruelty and vanity as compared to earlier elegy (Marsia) poets. In this research article, an analysis of the main elegiac aspects and epic elements of elegies of Meer Anees is presented.
