Abstract

This article is based on the research-oriented analysis of tafsīr Rōh ul M‘ānī in communicating the physical features of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to the Ummah as sketched in the previous revealed books. The paper deals with the exquisite description of the bodily characteristics of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) which are also known as shamāil e Nabwī. Along with the physical characteristics of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), the researcher also elaborates the distortion made by Jews in the revealed books and asking winnings by virtue of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), seal of Prophet and some other distinct features of the final prophet (peace be upon him) and his ummah. Utilizing analytical and historical research methodology, the article presents all relevant significant events and references that occurred. This discussion is not only a refresher for the faith that revives the love and reverence of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) but also reaffirms the narrations of revealed books particularly in the elaboration of physical features of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to the students of Ḥadīth and Sīrah. Moreover, this research significantly stands very advantageous in Islamic literature because it revisits the revealed books to elaborate shamāil e Nabwī and opens up an exposure for Islamic researchers to study tafāsīr of the Holy Qurān with this aspect as well.
