Abstract

Seventh centuary(AH) has seen beginning of a great movement generally in all branches of Islamic knowledge, specially in the field of sirah writing. This great movement submerges seventh to ninth century AH. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Muhib al Ṭabri(694AH) is one of the prominent writers of this period who authored number of books on Sirat of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Khulaṣa Siyar Syed al-Bashar is a short book which gives a brief account of life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and other relevent topics of Sirah. This book comprises of 24 sub chapters including life story, personality, manners, miracles, wives; children; close companions; servants(R.A), belongings and weapons of the Holy Prophet (SAW). The authenticity of text through comparison of printed book and manuscripts has been validated. No of prints and manuscripts were collected from online sources of manuscript and book collections. Comparative Analysis methodology was adopted to highlight features and characteristics of this book and style of the writer against other short sirah books and authors of earlier times and especially of seventh century.  The writer of this book used multiple sirah sources and sometimes gave reference of them. He accepted both authentic and non-authentic (Thaeef/weak) narratives of sirah sources; usually analyzed critically and preferred more authentic sometimes unique account of the story. He adopted subjective approach to arrange his material, like other precis writers of sirah and although his methodology was not uniform yet he successfully presented comprehensive information on sirah of the Holy Prophet (SAW) in few pages.
