In the literary world the introduction of Marmaduke William Pickthall is as a translator of the Holy Qur’ān. But other than this service he has been a prolific writer as novelist, short story writer, journalist, and an Islamist. In his writings before embracing Islam he not only criticizes Christianity but highlights many prominent aspects of Islam. Particularly the definition of progress and the position of woman in Islam. Pickthall wrote in English but his translated articles were also published in some Urdu periodicals of the sub-continent.
