Tasawwuf is a branch of Islamic Sciences which focusses the spiritual development of Muslims. Allah sent His final messenger, Prophet Muhammad, as a source of knowledge for the entire Ummah. He was the model of spirituality for the whole world. His God-consciousness, deep spirituality, real acts of worship, and love for Allah were preserved and propagated by an Islamic science called Tasawwuf. After the Prophet, the scholars opted different branches of knowledge. The aim of the scholars of Tasawwuf was purification of the heart, and development of consciousness of Allah through submission to the Shariah and Sunnah. The Saints are role model to keep the society peaceful. This paper discusses about the role of Tasawwuf and saints in the establishment of a peaceful and tolerant society.
