Abstract

Muhammad Ramzan Najm Barvi

Kashf-al-Mahjoob by “Ali bin Usman Hujveri (d564AH) is an authentic book on Tafawwuf. This article discusses the view point of Ali bin Usman regarding Shariah and Tariqa. He narrated the biography of those sufies who were congregator of Quran and Sunnah and argued that Tariqa depends on Shariah. He has quoted verses of Quran and hadith in support of the view point. The article analyses the arguments mentioned in the book and concludes that Shariah (Islamic Law) and Triqa (Islamic mystism) both are reciprocal and correlated with each other. Shariah is considered as mother of Tariqa and Tariqa is termed as subordinate to it. In the light of Tasawuf, there is no concept of Tariqa without Shariah.
